Remembering Ted Turner...
The man who introduced me to classics...
At your departure, I remember you with personal words. Not because of CNN that made me watch updates on Gulf War (my life’s first experience of war coverage) but something entertaining and deeply personal.
Ted! You introduced me to your two wonderful creations. One was Cartoon Network that further introduced me to many great cartoons like Scooby Doo, Johnny Bravo, Ed Edd & Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog and a few more.
Your other unforgettable creation for which I am deeply and eternally thankful was, is, and always be TNT that became TCM. With my childhood’s ridiculous experience of Bollywood’s horrible phase of the 1990s, TCM opened my eyes forever and gave the whole magnificent exposure of classic films that defined the art of filmmaking and showed the mastery and artistry of acting.
Ted! You and TCM are the one who majorly introduced me to entertainment’s greatest names like Anthony Quinn, Omar Sharif, James Stewart, Catherine Hepburn, Gregory Peck, John Wayne, Marx Brothers, Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Spencer Tracy, Lawrence Olivier, and so many more.
You are the one who made me watch Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, Goodbye Mr Chips, Boys Town, Casablanca, and so many films. Perhaps, your creation changed my perception and observation towards the global films forever.
Thank you so much for your creations that shaped my teenage years. Good bye.
